In 1998 in USURT there was a seminar devoted to the problems of cooperation between East and West. Leaders of National Volunteer Services from Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the UK, Finland and Russia took part in it.

From 1996 volunteers from Peace Corps USA worked in URGUPS. The first volunteers were John Venecek (Illinois) and Karla Sanchez (California). They taught English language. In 1999-2002 English lessons were held by young and adult American graduates: Ben Berry (Washington DC), Migan Svoboda (Iowa), Stiv Witerspoon (South Caroline), Sigmund and Phyllis Penn (Texas), Leah Misbin (Florida), Douglas Buchacek (Illinois).

However, they not only taught English language, but some other disciplines in English. Sigmund Penn (Texas) and Steve Witherspoon (South Caroline) made a business course for students of the Economic Faculty. Phyllis Penn taught International and American Law.

It's important to know that USURT is the only one Ekaterinburg University that has cooperated with Peace Corps.
